Biography

Lisa Manara nasce in un piccolo paese della Romagna. All’età di 5 anni, grazie alla madre pianista, si avvicina al pianoforte e da quel momento non ha mai smesso di studiare. Racconta Lisa: “Per anni ho studiato il pianoforte classico ma sentivo che la voce era lo strumento che mi permetteva realmente di esprimere ciò che la musica mi richiamava e di entrare in armonia con le mie emozioni. Quindi a circa 16 anni, ho cominciato a studiare canto per poi scoprire pian piano la mia personalità artistica”. Nel 1997 inizia gli studi musicali frequentando i corsi Yamaha presso la Scuola di Musica Vassura Baroncini, sotto la guida di Beatrice Santini. Intraprende poi lo studio del pianoforte sotto la guida del M° Olaf John Laneri prima e poi del M° Francesco Frudua. Nel 2008 si diploma in Teoria e Solfeggio presso il Conservatorio G. Verdi di Ravenna e, nello stesso anno si avvia allo studio del canto moderno sotto la guida della M° Paola Matarrese. Prende parte a diverse Masterclass per lo studio del canto tra cui, nel 2011, quella tenuta da Dave Liebman sulle tecniche improvvisative nel jazz; nel 2012 al seminario di canto jazz e tecniche dello scat con Bob Stoloff; nel 2013 con Kevin Mahoghany e sempre nel 2013 alla masterclass sulle tecniche improvvisative con Silvia Donati. Nel 2013 è semifinalista del Tour Music Fest e prende parte allo stage di canto presso il CET. Nel 2015 partecipa allo Stage di canto con Sarah Jane Morris e Ian Shaw. Cantante, musicista, autrice e cantautrice, si laurea con il massimo dei voti in canto jazz, al conservatorio Frescobaldi di Ferrara, sotto la guida dei M° Tiziana Ghiglioni, Giuppi Paone, Sabine Mayer, Teo Ciavarella, Paolo Silvestri, Giammarco Maurizio, Luca Bragalini, Leo Izzo, Roberto Manuzzi, Federico Benedetti. Da diversi anni studia il bel canto sotto la guida del maestro Miguel Curti. Suona chitarra e pianoforte e nel suo curriculum tantissime collaborazioni con artisti importanti: Quintorigo, Tommy Emmanuel, Eric Sardinas, Diunna Greenleaf, Ricky Portera, Franco Cerri, Renato Sellani, Marco Tamburini, Paolo Ghetti, Marcello Sutera, Schillirò Vonn Washington, Aldo Betto, e molti altri. In diverse occasioni ha, inoltre, aperto alcuni concerti di Fabio Concato. Nel 2011 partecipa al Talent “The Voice” of Italy nella squadra di Riccardo Cocciante. Nello stesso anno vince il concorso “Donne Jazz e Blues” che le permette di partecipare ad un workshop sulla voce presso la Venice Voice Academy di Los Angeles. Dal 2018 al 2020 è stata la vocalist di Gianni Morandi nel “D’Amore d’Autore Tour” dove ha avuto occasione di duettare con lui all’Arena di Verona, nella trasmissione Rai “Con il cuore, nel nome di Francesco” e al Teatro Duse di Bologna in diretta Radio Bruno TV. Ha scritto di lei Alceste Ayroldi, giornalista della prestigiosa rivista Musica Jazz: ”Non è facile incontrare una voce che metta insieme grinta, intonazione e una vigorosa interpretazione, Lisa Manara ci riesce con una disarmante facilità attraversando come poche il bel canzoniere afro e soul-blues, padroneggiando le dinamiche e sventagliando una sicurezza derivante da chi ha già alle spalle un bel po’ di anni di palco. Graffia come una pantera nera e svolazza nelle note alte con un glissato che le consente di passare dalle ottave più basse a quelle alte, senza alcun contraccolpo, mantenendo anche una pronuncia chiara e forbita. Chapeau, quindi alla nuova interprete della musica afroamericana “targata” Italia”. All’attivo ha un progetto dal titolo L’Urlo dell’Africanità, che recupera brani provenienti dal territorio africano e non solo, riproponendo arrangiamenti delle hit più celebri di Nina Simone, Miriam Makeba, Cesaria Evora e Fatoumata Diawara, arricchito da sonorità soul, funk ed echi africani, creando un sound moderno, del tutto personale, sfruttando la forma canzone, che nei concerti viene portata ad una dimensione più istintiva e libera. Nella sua carriera ha già partecipato tra i tanti concerti ed eventi a: Pordenone Blues Festival, Trasimeno Blues Festival, MEI Faenza, Accadia Blues Festival, la Carovana del Blues Comacchio, Imola in Musica, al Pistoia Blues, all’Artusi Jazz Festival, al Torrione Jazz Club di Ferrara, Crossroads Jazz Festival, a Suoni Controvento, Urbino Jazz, Tourné e Padova Jazz.
