Regenballade

Ich kam von meinem Wege ab, weil es so nebeldunstig war.
Der Wald war feuchtkalt wie ein Grab und Finger griffen in mein Haar.
Ein Vogel rief so hoch und hohl, wie wenn ein Kind im Schlummer klagt
und mir war kalt, ich wute wohl, was man von diesem Walde sagt!
Dann setzt' ich wieder Bein vor Bein und komme so gemach vom Fleck
und quutsch' im letzen Abendschein schwer vorwrts durch Morast und Dreck.
Es nebelte, es nieselte, es roch nach Schlamm, verfault und na,
es raschelte und rieselte und kroch und sprang im hohen Gras.
Auf einmal, eh ich's mich versehn, bin ich am Strom, im Wasser schier.
Am Rand bleib ich erschrocken stehn, fast netzt die Flut die Sohle mir.
Das Rhricht zieht sich bis zum Tann und wiegt und wogt soweit man blickt
und flstert bse ab und an, wenn es im feuchten Windhauch nickt.
Das sa ein Kerl! Wei Gott, mein Herz stand still, als ich ihn sitzen sah!
Ich sah ihn nur von hinterwrts, und er sa klein und ruhig da.
Sa in der Abenddmmerung, die Angelrute ausgestreckt,
als ob ein toter Weidenstrunk den drren Ast gespenstisch reckt.
"He, Alter!" ruf ich, "beit es gut?" Und sieh, der Baumstamm dreht sich um
und wackelt mit dem runden Hut und grinst mit spitzen Zhnen stumm.
Und spricht, doch nicht nach Landesart, wie Entenschnattern, schnell und breit,
kommt's aus dem algengrnen Bart: "Wenn's regnet, hab' ich gute Zeit"!
"So scheint es", sag ich und ich schau in seinen Bottich neben ihn.
Da wimmelts blank und silbergrau und mht sich mit zerfetzem Kiem,
Aale, die Flossen zart wie Flaum, glotzugig Karpfen. Mittendrin,
ich traue meinen Augen kaum, wlzt eine Natter sich darin!
"Ein selt'nes Fischlein, Alter, traun!" Da springt er froschbehend empor.
"Die Knorpel sind so gut zu kaun" schnattert listig er hervor.
"Gewi seid ihr zur Nacht mein Gast! Wo wollt ihr heute auch noch hin?
Nur zu, den Bottich angefat! Genug ist fr uns beide drin!"
Und richtig watschelt er voraus, patsch, patsch am Uferrand entlang.
Und wie im Traume heb ich auf und schleppe hinterdrein den Fang.
Und krieche durch den Weidenhag, der eng den Rasenhang umschmiegt,
wo, tief verborgen selbst am Tag, die schilfgebaute Htte liegt.
Da drinnen ist nicht Stuhl, nicht Tisch, der Alte sitzt am Boden platt,
es riecht nach Aas und totem Fisch, mir wird vom bloem Atmen satt.
Er aber greift frisch in den Topf und frit die Fische kalt und roh,
packt sie beim Schwanz, beit ab den Kopf und knirscht und schmatzt im Dunkeln froh.
"Ihr et ja nicht! Das ist nicht recht!" Die Schwimmhand klatscht mich fett aufs Knie.
"Ihr seid vom trockenen Geschlecht, ich wei, die Kerle essen nie!
Ihr seid bekmmert? Sprecht doch aus, womit ich Euch erfreuen kann!"
"Ja", klappre ich: "Ich will nach Haus, aus dem verfluchten Schnatermann."
Da hebt der Kerl ein Lachen an, es klang nicht gut, mir wurde kalt.
"Was wit denn Ihr vom Schnatermann?" "Ja", sag ich stur," so heit der Wald."
"So heit der Wald?" Nun geht es los, er grinst mich grn und phosphorn an:
"Du drrer Narr, was weit du blo vom Schnater-Schnater-Schnatermann?!"
Und schnater-schnater, klitsch und klatsch, der Regen peitscht mir ins Gesicht.
Quatsch durch den Sumpf, hoch spritzt der Matsch, ein Stiefel fehlt - ich acht es nicht.
Und schnater-schnater um mich her, und Enten- ,Unken-, Froschgethn.
Mwengelchter irr und leer und tief ein hohles Windgesthn...
Des andern Tags sa ich allein, nicht weit vom prasslenden Kamin
und lie mein schwer gekrnkt Gebein wohlig von heiem Grog durchziehn.
Wie golden war der Trank, wie klar, wie edel war sein starker Duft!
Ich blickte nach dem Wald - es war noch sehr viel Regen in der Luft...

Achim Reichel (born on January 28, 1944) is a musician, producer and songwriter from Hamburg, Germany. He is known for his 1991 single "Aloha Heja He", as well as for having fronted British Invasion-influenced band The Rattles, who, among other achievements, were selected to open for The Beatles on the Fabs' last-ever tour of Europe in 1966.
