L'Etiope è un progetto artistico-musicale nato nella periferia di Milano nel Marzo 2015 dall'incontro tra Andrea Cocco (voce, chitarra, piano), il bassista Alex Roggero e i due fratelli Gianluca (batteria) e Guido Tosi (sintetizzatori, tastiere e chitarra). Il nome del gruppo è tratto da una famosa scena del film "Ecce Bombo" di Nanni Moretti, affresco dolceamaro di una gioventù smarrita e grande psicodramma sull'accesso alla vita adulta. L'Etiope di Moretti, come il Godot di Beckett, è una figura misterica, che non arriva e non si vede mai; è qualcuno che ha delle idee precise ma vane, che ha inutilmente ragione, qualcuno con cui "fare finta" per nascondere le proprie frustrazioni. Dopo una prima fase di sperimentazione sonora in cui la formazione affina il proprio sound, ribattezzato dalla stessa band "retro-indie-cantautorale" per la grande attenzione riservata ai testi, al contesto indipendente in cui si sviluppa e per i frequenti richiami a sonorità del passato, nel dicembre del 2015 la band si reca alla Sauna Recording Studio di Andrea Cajelli per registrare il suo primo EP: "I nonni sono morti", ? autoprodotto e uscito nel maggio 2016 ? grazie al quale ha occasione di suonare e farsi conoscere in molti tra i principali locali della scena underground milanese. Qualche mese dopo la band viene invitata a sonorizzare dal vivo, presso lo spazio Oberdan di Milano, il film corale 14 Reels, titolo che si riferisce esplicitamente al numero delle bobine di super 8 che lo compongono e al numero dei registi che hanno preso parte al progetto. Da allora il gruppo ha deciso di buttarsi anima e corpo su composizione e arrangiamento del loro album d'esordio: Tutti i successi, in uscita per l'etichetta spezzina Revubs.
