Puya è un gruppo musicale rock portoricano originario di San Juan. Inizialmente si esibivano solo con musiche strumentali, per poi includere il cantante Sergio Curbelo nel 1992. Si trasferirono a Fort Lauderdale, in Florida, dove crearono il loro stile unico che fonde salsa e heavy metal. Nel 1994, con la pubblicazione di una demo tape, cambiarono nome in Puya.
