Mario Lanza, stage name of Alfred Arnold Cocozza (1921-1959), was an American tenor, actor, and showman of Italian descent. Born in Easton, Pennsylvania, to parents who emigrated from Italy, Lanza displayed a remarkable voice and musical talent from a young age. After studying singing and acting, he made his debut in the entertainment world in the 1940s with success in theater and radio. His career took off in 1951 with the film "The Great Caruso", where he played the famous Italian tenor, achieving enormous public and critical acclaim. Lanza established himself as one of the greatest interpreters of American operatic melodrama, capable of combining vocal power with a unique expressive sensitivity. Besides "The Great Caruso", other important films in his filmography include "The Toast of New Orleans" (1950) and "Serenade" (1956). Among Mario Lanza's most representative songs are "Be My Love", "Granada", and "Mattinata". His career, unfortunately cut short by his death at the age of 36, left an indelible mark on the history of American music.
