Rui Manuel Gaudêncio Veloso, in arte Rui Veloso, è un cantautore e chitarrista portoghese nato a Lisbona nel 1951. Considerato uno dei pilastri della musica rock portoghese, ha iniziato la sua carriera negli anni '70 con il gruppo de facto, collaborando poi con artisti come José Cid e Carlos do Carmo. Nel 1982 ha pubblicato il suo album di debutto da solista, "Rui Veloso", che lo ha consacrato come artista di successo. Tra i suoi brani più famosi si ricordano "A Minha Música", "O Homem Que Eu Queria Ser" e "Fado Português". La sua musica è caratterizzata da un mix di rock, pop e fado, influenzato dalla tradizione musicale portoghese e dal panorama internazionale. Veloso ha vinto numerosi premi musicali, tra cui il premio Amália Rodrigues per la migliore interpretazione di fado.
