Gordon Meredith Lightfoot, Jr. (1938-2023) was a Canadian singer-songwriter considered one of the pillars of his country's folk and country music. Born in Orillia, Ontario, Lightfoot began his musical career in the 1960s, quickly gaining a reputation for his evocative melodies and poetic lyrics that often explored themes of history, nature, and everyday life in Canada.
