Geordie ( and lt;b and gt;jaw and lt;b and gt;-dee) were a rock band from Newcastle upon Tyne, England, most notably active in the 1970s. Considered a cult band in the British music scene, they achieved moderate success with their hard rock sound influenced by glam rock and traditional English folk music. The band's name derives from the local dialect of Newcastle, where "Geordie" is the term for the city's inhabitants.
