Der Knabe er schwrt es und Jahre vergehn,
eines Tages beim Wandern sieht er sie dort stehn.
Am Waldrand - ein Mdchen von zarter Gestalt,
er luft zu ihr, jede Warnung verhallt...
"Habt ihr schon gehrt oder soll ich's euch sagen?
Im eigenen Blut lag der Knabe erschlagen,
ob Krieger, ob Ritter, ob Aristokrat,
es kehrt nie zurck, wer den Wald je betrat!"
Das Mdchen liebreizend, von redseliger Natur,
bezirzt, lockt den Knaben, er vergisst seinen Schwur.
Und ehe ihm hren und sehen vergeh'n,
sieht er sich im dichtesten Unterholz stehn.
Die Augen des Jnglings voll Schrecken sich weiten,
auf der Haut der Frau beginnt sich Fell auszubreiten.
Grad eben noch menschlich, pltzlich Kreatur,
der Mond leuchtet hell... und auch die Blutspur...
"Habt ihr schon gehrt oder soll ich's euch sagen?
Im eigenen Blut lag der Knabe erschlagen,
ob Krieger, ob Ritter, ob Aristokrat,
es kehrt nie zurck, wer den Wald je betrat!" [2x]
...Man fand ihn nach Tagen, mit zerbrochenen Gliedern,
wieder ein Opfer des Waldes bei Nacht.
Jeder, der versucht mit dem Wald anzubiedern,
wird bestraft und um sein Leben gebracht...
