Edward James Kendrick, better known as Eddie Kendricks, was an American singer and songwriter. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 19, 1939, Kendricks began his musical career in the 1950s with The Primes, a local vocal group. In 1961, he joined The Temptations, becoming one of the lead singers of the group and contributing to defining their distinctive sound. With The Temptations, Kendricks achieved international success with numerous hits, including "The Way You Do the Things You Do", "Get Ready" and "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)". His smooth and melodious falsetto became a hallmark of the group. In 1971, Kendricks left The Temptations to pursue a solo career. He released several successful albums in the 1970s and 1980s, including "Eddie Kendricks" (1972) and "Keep On Truckin'" (1974). Kendricks was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 as a member of The Temptations. He died on October 5, 2003, in Los Angeles, California.
