Winter on the Americas
Catch you in the snow winter's day
Who would think fires burning out
Would ever go to the same place,
But, the sadness
Slightly of your face
I didn't mean it that way
A Humanesque is playing on tonight
Do you ever talk revolution? [You used to talk...]
Who would ever know, you'd have to see
Way down. Down the Tingo Marie
Caught you all alone in their angry streets,
But, the sadness
Who did you meet?
Did they treat you that way
A Humanesque is playing on tonight
Your eyes are liars
They paint the secrets you betray
Your Spanish men say that you cheat them everyday
They want to go and let you have your way
Seems your rebels given up the cause
And even Oklahoma calls your name,
But, the magic
With which you held sway
Has fallen decayed
A Humanesque is playing on tonight
The magic
Has since burned away
Did they want it that way,
A Humanesque is playing on tonight
The Gun Club was an American rock band active from 1980 to 1996. Founded in Los Angeles by Jeffrey Lee Pierce, the group combined elements of blues, country, punk and rockabilly into a dark and provocative sound. Pierce, the charismatic singer and guitarist, was the central figure of the group, known for his intense performances and poetic lyrics often focused on themes like alienation, death and the search for spirituality. \n\nThe Gun Club released five studio albums during their active period, including "Fire Of Love" (1981), "Sex Beat" (1984) and "Mother Juno" (1987). Their sound was influenced by artists like The Rolling Stones, Captain Beefheart and Nick Cave. \n\nDespite critical acclaim and a loyal fan base, The Gun Club never achieved mainstream popularity. The untimely death of Jeffrey Lee Pierce in 1996 marked the end of the group. \n\nSome representative tracks include "She's Like Heroin To Me", "The Devil's Playground" and "For The Love Of Money".
