Charley Frank Pride (1934-2020) was a legendary American country singer and musician. Born in Mississippi to an African American family, Pride faced racial segregation during his musical journey. After playing professional baseball, he dedicated himself to country music in the 1960s, becoming one of the first successful Black artists in the genre. His powerful voice and emotionally resonant songs captivated a wide and diverse audience. Among his most famous hits are "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'", "All I Have to Offer You (Is Me)" and "Mountain of Love". Pride won numerous awards, including three Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2000. His music helped break down racial barriers in country music, paving the way for other African American artists.
