Natas is an American hip hop group from Detroit, Michigan. The group comprises Esham, TNT, and Mastamind. Natas performs a style that it refers to as acid rap and is known for its dark, violent lyrics and rock-based sound. Esham met Mastamind as a student at Osborne High School, who gave him a three-song demo tape of his music, leading the two to form the group with Esham's longtime friend, TNT. They decided on the name Natas as a symbol of their disposition at the time and released their first album, *Life After Death*, on Esham's Reel Life Productions label in 1992. The group's name is an acronym which has meant both "Nation Ahead of Time And Space" and "Niggaz Ahead of Time And Space".
