Ferdi Tayfur (born Ferdi Tayfur Turanbayburt, November 15th, 1945) is a Turkish arabesque singer, actor and composer. Considered one of the greatest artists of the genre, he has achieved international popularity in recent years, with a following in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Trinidad and Tobago, Syria and Iran. Born in Istanbul, Tayfur began his musical career in the 1960s, singing in nightclubs around the city. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he achieved national success with songs like "Yalan Dünya", "Seni Seviyorum" and "Bir Demet Tiyatro". Besides music, Tayfur has also ventured into acting, starring in several successful films. His music, characterized by melancholic melodies and lyrics that tell stories of love, loss and nostalgia, has won over a vast and loyal audience. Among his most important albums are "Yalan Dünya" (1980) and "Bir Demet Tiyatro" (1982).
