Ciccone Youth is an experimental band formed in 1986 as a side project of Sonic Youth. The group consists of Steve Shelley, Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth, along with Mike Watt, bassist for the Minutemen/fIREHOSE. The name of the band is a tribute to American pop singer Madonna, who was at the height of her fame at the time. Ciccone Youth released their only album, "The Whitey Album", in 1987, characterized by a noise rock sound with punk and avant-garde influences. The album was well-received by critics and considered a classic of the experimental genre. Among the most representative tracks of Ciccone Youth are "The Whitey Album", "Death Valley 69" and "Goodbye Horses".
