John Wesley (1703-1791) was an English theologian and preacher considered the founder of Methodism. Born in Epworth, Lincolnshire, John Wesley received a solid academic education at Oxford University. Influenced by German Pietism, he developed a deep Christian faith that led him to dedicate his life to spreading the evangelical message. In 1738, during a trip to Germany, he had a religious experience that profoundly marked his life and pushed him to preach with renewed fervor.
