Gerard James Butler (Paisley, November 13, 1969) is a Scottish actor and film producer. After studying law at the University of Glasgow, he began his acting career in London, making his debut on stage. He gained international fame with his role as Leonidas in the film *300* (2006). Among his most notable performances are also those in *P.S. I Love You* (2007), *The Phantom of the Opera* (2004) and *Olympus Has Fallen* (2013). Butler is known for his action roles, but has also shown versatility by playing dramatic and romantic characters as well. Besides acting, Butler is also involved in film production.
