Walk the hill, slowly down
Get all of Saturday's news
From the back of the Grampian end
All Fife's kingdom is in view
The pitch it looks like Blackpool
Sound and light and tangerine
When Andy Dickson's treatment time comes
The Dens reserve game can be seen
And I'm Proud To Be An Arab
Proud of my home team
And I'm Proud To Be An Arab
Old times...and new
The half-time scores make a rusty rising
The crowd are glad of the news
Warmed by the Bovril and the scoreline
The Old Firm 1, Dundee 2
And I'm Proud To Be An Arab
Proud of my home team
Yes I'm Proud To Be An Arab
Old times...and new
Deacon Blue is a Scottish band formed in Glasgow during the 1980s. Led by talented songwriter Ricky Ross, the group achieved international success with their debut album *Raintown* (1987), which spent over 16 months on the British charts. The album, focused on life in urban Scotland, spawned three top ten hits: "Loaded", "Chocolate Girl" and "Dignity". Their second album, *When The World Knows Your Name* (1989), although more commercially successful, did not receive the same critical acclaim. Some critics accused the band of succumbing to pop success at the expense of artistic integrity. Nevertheless, the public embraced the album, which reached number one on the British charts and produced three top forty hits: "Real Gone Kid", "Fergus Sings the Blues" and "Wages Day". Deacon Blue is considered one of the most important bands in the Scottish music scene of the 1980s.
