Aqua is a Danish Euro-pop dance group formed in the 1990s. Known for their global hit single "Barbie Girl", taken from their debut album Aquarium (1997), the group released a second album, Aquarius (2000), before disbanding in 2001 due to internal conflicts. The split was caused by the romantic relationship between singer Lene Nystrøm and guitarist and songwriter Søren Rasted, which generated jealousy with band founder René Dif.
