Carlos Gardel, born Charles Romuald Gardès on December 11, 1890 in Toulouse, France, was a French-Argentine singer, actor, and composer. His characteristic vocal style, powerful and melodic, combined with his stage charisma, quickly made him popular with the Argentine public.
