Deftones are an American rock band formed in Sacramento, California, in 1988. Comprised of Chino Moreno (vocals), Stephen Carpenter (guitar), Abe Cunningham (drums), and Chi Cheng (bass, deceased in 2013), the group achieved international fame for their sound characterized by a blend of alternative metal, shoegaze, and post-rock. After years of local gigs and the release of their first EP "The Deftones", they signed with Maverick Records in 1995. Their debut album, "Adrenaline", was an immediate success, solidifying their place in the underground music scene.
