Graham Parker is an English singer-songwriter born in London in 1950. After a decade of performing with local bands, in 1975 Stiff Records founder Dave Robinson put him together with guitarists Brinsley Schwarz and Martin Belmont, keyboardist Bob Andrews, bassist Andrew Bodnar and drummer Steve Goulding. The result was Graham Parker and the Rumour, a band that achieved considerable success throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Parker is known for his incisive songwriting and energetic performances, influenced by artists such as Elvis Costello and The Kinks. His most important albums include "Stick to Me", "The Mona Lisa's Sister" and "Squeezing Out Sparks". Among his most representative songs are "Local Hero", "Discovering Japan" and "Passion Is No Guarantee".
