Fullmetal Alchemist is a manga written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, published in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine from July 12, 2001, to June 12, 2010, for a total of 108 chapters plus a special chapter. The chapters were collected into 27 volumes under the Gangan Comics label, published between January 22, 2002, and November 22, 2010. The story follows Edward and Alphonse Elric, two alchemist brothers who seek to restore their bodies after a failed alchemy experiment. The manga achieved great success in Japan and worldwide, being translated into several languages, including Italian by Planet Manga, English by Viz Media, French by Kurokawa, Spanish by Norma Editorial, and Korean by Haksan Publishing.
