Vanessa Mae Vanakorn Nicholson, known simply as Vanessa-Mae, is a Thai-born British violinist and former alpine skier. Born in London in 1976, she gained international fame for her techno-classical music, characterized by arrangements of classical works in a modern style using new musical technologies. Her musical career began at the age of four with violin lessons and developed rapidly thanks to natural talent and intense dedication. Vanessa-Mae has collaborated with world-renowned artists such as David Bowie, Elton John, and Jean-Michel Jarre. Among her most representative pieces are "The Swan", "Canon in D Major" and "Pachelbel's Canon", reinterpreted in an electronic key. She has released numerous successful albums, including "The Violin Player" (1995) and "Vanessa Mae Plays Vivaldi" (2000). Besides music, Vanessa-Mae practiced alpine skiing at a competitive level, even participating in the 2006 Winter Olympics.
