T. Rex, known as Tyrannosaurus Rex until 1970, were a British rock band formed in London in 1967 by singer, guitarist, and songwriter Marc Bolan. Bolan, the leader, frontman, and only constant member of the band, guided T. Rex through several evolutionary phases, starting from folk-rock sounds influenced by artists like Bob Dylan and The Beatles to embrace a more explosive and commercial glam rock in the 1970s. The success of T. Rex was marked by hits such as "Get It On", "Children of the Revolution" and "20th Century Boy", which contributed to defining the aesthetics and music of the British glam rock movement. Bolan, with his iconic style and charismatic performances, became a symbol of that era, influencing generations of subsequent musicians. The band released numerous successful albums, including "Electric Warrior" (1971) and "The Slider" (1972), which are considered milestones of glam rock. After Bolan's death in a car accident in 1977, T. Rex disbanded.
