Sepultura is a Brazilian heavy metal band formed in Belo Horizonte in 1984. Considered pioneers of Latin American thrash metal, they achieved international fame in the 1990s with the album *Roots* (1996), which introduced elements of traditional Brazilian and tribal music. The group is known for its live energy, theatrical performances, and politically and socially charged lyrics. Founding members are Max Cavalera (vocals, guitar) and Igor Cavalera (drums).
