Aaliyah (born Aaliyah Dana Haughton) was an American singer and actress considered an icon of 1990s R and B music. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1979, she began her musical career at the age of 12 with the album "Age Ain't Nothing But a Number". Her distinctive vocal style, characterized by a soft and melodic voice, combined with a contemporary R and B sound influenced by hip-hop, quickly won over audiences. Among her most notable successes are "Back and Forth", "Try Again" and "One in a Million".
