Frey ha iniziato la sua carriera musicale negli anni '60 con diverse formazioni locali prima di unirsi a Don Henley per formare gli Eagles nel 1971. Il gruppo ha raggiunto il successo internazionale negli anni '70 con album come "Hotel California" (1976) e "Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975)" (1976), vendendo oltre 200 milioni di dischi in tutto il mondo.
