Biografia

Franco Micalizzi is an Italian composer, arranger, and conductor born in Rome. His musical career began in 1970 with the soundtrack for the film "They Called Him Trinity", directed by E.B. Clucher and starring Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. The success of this Italian western, which inaugurated a new series of films of the genre, consecrated Micalizzi as a composer of soundtracks. In 1974 he composed the music for "The Last Snow of Spring", whose main theme reached the top of the music charts both in Italy and abroad. Among his most famous successes are also the soundtracks of "Born with a Gun" and "There's No Two Without Four", both directed by Clucher with Hill and Spencer, and "The Curse" (The Curse), an American film directed by David Keith. Micalizzi has also composed numerous theme songs for animated cartoons such as Lupin III, Tider G7, UFO and Transformers. In 2006 he composed the music for the short film Vic, directed by Sage Stallone. In 2005 he formed the Big Bubbling Band, an orchestra of 18 elements with which he holds concerts in Italy performing his soundtracks, particularly those of Italian police films from the 1970s and 1980s. His work has also been appreciated by director Quentin Tarantino, who included original themes composed by Micalizzi in the soundtracks of Grindhouse and Django Unchained. Many Italian and American hip hop artists use samples from his music for their rap songs.
