Harry James (1906-1983) was an acclaimed American trumpeter and leader of jazz big bands. Born in Bellevue, Ohio, James began his musical career playing in local orchestras before entering the world of jazz in the 1930s. In 1935, he joined Ben Bernie's band, where he showcased his talent and improvisational skills. In 1937, he formed his own band, which quickly became one of the most popular in the United States.
