David Bazan (born January 1976) is an indie rock singer-songwriter from Seattle, Washington. He is known for being the frontman and creative force behind the now-defunct band Pedro the Lion, and for leading Headphones, a project born from his passion for synthesizers. In 2006 he began performing and recording music as a solo artist. Bazan is currently touring the United States with a full band for the first time in almost five years. His work is characterized by introspective lyrics and melancholic melodies, often focusing on themes of faith, relationships, and loss. Some of his most representative songs include "Yellow", "The Ballad of the Brokenhearted" and "1976".
