Les Nubians are a French R and B duo composed of sisters Helene and Celia Faussart. Born in Paris in 1970, the group moved with their parents to Chad in 1985 before returning to Bordeaux seven years later. They began their career singing a cappella, participating in poetry slams in Bordeaux and Paris and providing backing vocals for various international artists. In 1998, they signed with Virgin Records France and released their debut album, *Princesses Nubiennes*. Their sound is characterized by Afro-Latin, jazz, and soul influences, with lyrics that explore themes of femininity, identity, and freedom. Les Nubians received a Grammy Award nomination in 2001 for the album *Les Nubians*, considered one of the most important in French R and B. Among their most representative songs are *«Ma Benz»*, *«Le Chant du Monde»* and *«Samba de Paris»*.
