Nana Caymmi, stage name of Dinahir Tostes Caymmi (Salvador, 1934 – Rio de Janeiro, 2018), was a Brazilian singer considered one of the most expressive musical artists of her country for her sophisticated interpretations. Daughter of the renowned Brazilian composer and musician Dorival Caymmi, Nana inherited a passion for music from a young age. She began singing in public at the age of 16, performing in Salvador's venues. In 1957 she moved to Rio de Janeiro, where she began collaborating with prominent Brazilian musicians such as Baden Powell and Vinicius de Moraes. Her warm and melodious voice, combined with her interpretive sensitivity, quickly brought her success. Nana Caymmi recorded numerous successful albums, including "Nana Caymmi" (1960), "Aquarela Brasileira" (1963) and "O Canto da Sereia" (1972). Among her most representative songs are "Samba de Uma Nota Só", "Manhã de Carnaval" and "Rosa Morena". Her music has spanned generations, influencing many Brazilian and international artists.
