viejas melodias
cantan su esperanza
tu serás un dulce recuerdo
yo seré el amor perdido
mi pueblo esta sólo
creció entre montañas
creció entre dos rios
Los Kjarkas are a Bolivian musical group from Capinota, Cochabamba Province. Considered one of the most popular Andean pop bands in recent Bolivian music history, they achieved international fame with the song "Llorando se Fue", whose melody and harmony are based on public domain Bolivian musical traditions. An unauthorized interpretation of the song by French producers Jean Karakos and Olivier Lorsac led to the creation of "Lambada" for Kaoma, a global hit. After winning a lawsuit, Kaoma acknowledged the plagiarism and licensed the song. Los Kjarkas are also founders of two schools teaching Andean folk music: the Kjarkas Music School (Lima, Peru) and La Fundacion Kjarkas (Ecuador). They have toured Japan, Europe, Scandinavia, the United States and South America, composing over 350 songs.
