Steve Hackett (nato Stephen Richard Hackett il 12 ottobre 1951) è un chitarrista, cantante e compositore britannico, considerato uno dei pilastri del rock progressivo. Dopo aver iniziato a suonare la chitarra all'età di sette anni, si è fatto notare per le sue abilità tecniche e melodiche. Nel 1971 ha sostituito Anthony Phillips nei Genesis, contribuendo alla band con un sound più strumentale e virtuosistico. Con i Genesis ha inciso otto album di grande successo, tra cui "Selling England by the Pound", "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" e "A Trick of the Tail". Nel 1977, dopo una serie di divergenze creative, Hackett ha lasciato i Genesis per intraprendere la carriera solista. La sua musica solista è caratterizzata da un approccio fusion che fonde elementi di rock progressivo, jazz, world music e classica.
