T. Rex, known as Tyrannosaurus Rex until 1970, were a British rock band formed in London in 1967 by singer, guitarist, and songwriter Marc Bolan. Bolan, the leader, frontman, and only constant member of the band, guided T. Rex through several evolutionary phases, starting from folk-rock sounds influenced by artists like Bob Dylan and The Beatles to embrace a more explosive and commercial glam rock in the 1970s.
