Kataklysm is a Canadian death metal band active since 1991. Considered pioneers of the "northern hyperblast" genre, a term coined after an advertisement in M.E.A.T. magazine describing Fear Factory as "hyperblast". This term refers to the fast and intricate blast beats typical of drummer Max Duhamel, which are integrated into the band's music. With over 10 albums released, Kataklysm has gained an international following thanks to their aggressive and technical sound.
