Pagoda is the stage name of Giacomo Asti, a singer-songwriter born in Parma. After years spent listening to music and performing in local venues, in 2019 he decided to dedicate himself to writing songs in Italian. In 2021, he entered the studio to record his debut album, "Amerigo Hotel", produced by Davide Chiari and Simone Piccinelli at La Buca Recording Club in Montichiari. The album features talented musicians such as Leonardo Barbieri (Strato’s), Leonardo Cavalca (Cubo di Rubik), Nicolas De Francesco (Lassociazione, Casa del Vento), Emanuele Nidi (singer-songwriter), Domiziana Pelati (AyahuascA) and Lorenzo Zambini (Livermore). On October 8, 2021, the first single "Madeleine" was released, accompanied by a video directed by Michele Delmonte. Pagoda opened for Steve Wynn (Dream Syndicate) in Parma, and in the following months two more singles were released: "In un modo o nell’altro" and "San Lorenzo". Pagoda's musical influences range from the pop melodies of Belle and Sebastian to the American indie of R.E.M., from the classic rock of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to the alternative folk of Wilco, from the Paisley Underground of Dream Syndicate to the country-folk of John Prine. His tone is direct, candid, colloquial, fragile, light, restless and ironic. His songs tell everyday situations (relationships, family, friendships, work) with sincerity, conveying dissatisfaction, fears and hopes.
