Gondwana is a Chilean musical group formed in 1987 during the Pinochet dictatorship. Their music blends influences of reggae, rock and traditional South American rhythms like the bolero. The band had to maintain a low profile during the years of the dictatorship due to the hostile political climate towards expressions of dissent and Rastafarian influence. After the end of the dictatorship, Gondwana achieved great popularity in Chile with their second album *Alabanza* (1996), which included the hit «Antonia». The album also addressed political themes such as justice and peace lacking during the dictatorship. Following the success of *Alabanza*, Gondwana embarked on a world tour, solidifying its position as one of the most important bands in the Latin American music scene.
