Dreaming Kelly is an Italian band formed in Genoa in January 2009 by Alberto Ghione, the lead singer. The name comes from Ghione's passion for singers Kelly Jones of Stereophonics and Kelly McEnroe. The band is characterized by a sound that ranges from American rock-punk to British Britpop. After starting with international covers and original songs in English, Dreaming Kelly were noticed by producers Mauro Isetti and Egidio Perduca of the independent label Sonic Factory, who signed them for a five-year contract. The production requested Italian lyrics, creating internal tensions within the band. Meanwhile, three musicians - Riccardo Ferretti, Marco Binda and Jacopo Rossi - joined the project, fascinated by Ghione's vocal timbre. Together they produced the songs "Brivido" and "Canzone della notte". Sony Music has shown interest in the band, following them closely. Currently, Dreaming Kelly are finalizing their first album with Sonic Factory, scheduled for release in April 2012. The album offers a mix of new songs and blues-rock influences, tackling common themes of youth between carefree and awareness of responsibilities. The sound of Dreaming Kelly is characterized by mid-tempo rhythms and ballads that highlight the singer's vocal timbre.
