A.N.I.M.A.L., acronym for "Acosados Nuestros Indios Murieron Al Luchar" (Harassed, Our Indians Died While Fighting), was an Argentine groove metal band active from 1989 to 2007. Considered one of the most important bands in the genre in Argentina, A.N.I.M.A.L. managed to combine heavy metal sounds with Latin and South American rhythms. Their musical style is characterized by heavy riffs, catchy melodies and political lyrics that address themes such as the fight for indigenous rights and social oppression. Among their most representative songs are "El Último Hombre", "La Revolución" and "No Hay Futuro". The debut album "Animal" (1992) marked a turning point in the Argentine metal scene, while "En Vivo Desde El Teatro Gran Rex" (1996), recorded during a concert at the Teatro Gran Rex in Buenos Aires, is considered one of the best live albums of the genre. A.N.I.M.A.L. collaborated with artists such as Sepultura and Metallica, contributing to spreading Argentine metal music internationally.
