Thomas Earl Petty, better known as Tom Petty, was an American singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, and actor. Known for his rock style characterized by catchy melodies and introspective lyrics, he achieved international fame in the late 1970s with the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
