André Bourvil, born André Robert Raimbourg on September 27, 1920 in Paris and died on September 23, 1970 in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, was a celebrated French actor, singer, composer, comedian, and cabaret artist. He began his career as a chansonnier in Parisian venues before making his film debut in the 1950s. Bourvil quickly became one of the most beloved faces of French cinema thanks to his brilliant comedy and his talent for portraying simple but authentic characters. Among his most famous films are "Le Doulos", "La Traversée de Paris" and "Les Copains d'abord". Bourvil was also a skilled singer, with a warm and melodious voice that allowed him to record numerous successful albums. Some of his best-known songs include "L'Éternel Retour", "La Vie en rose" and "Le Petit Train de la Banlieue". His music was often characterized by a melancholic but ironic tone, which reflected his worldview.
