Alone by M D Barnes sung by Vern Gosdin
ALONE - at a table for two
ALONE - waiting for you
I ordered the wine
Like so many times before
Then a chill crawled all over me
My God! This is how it would be
If you, just didn't love me, any more
I never knew
how much I loved you
Until I sat here all by myself
You know you control
my heart and my soul
There'll never be anyone else
So don't be surprised
at these tears in my eyes
It's a feeling I've never known
Now I can see
I was never meant to be alone
Alone - I'd never stand tall
Alone - I'd be nothing at all
Your empty chair nearly scared me to death
And then, you walked through that door
And my heart, started beating once more
Ohhhh please, don't ever leave me here like this
I never knew
how much I loved you
Until I sat here all by myself
You know you control
my heart and my soul
There'll never be anyone else
So don't be surprised
at these tears in my eyes
It's a feeling, I've never known
Now I can see
I was never meant to be ALONE
It's a feeling I've never known
Now I can see
I was never meant to be ALONE
Ohhhh now I can see
I never want to be ALONE
Ha ottenuto 19 successi nei primi dieci posti delle classifiche country dal tardo anni '70 all'inizio degli anni '90, con tre brani che hanno raggiunto la vetta: "I Can Tell By the Way You Dance (You're Gonna Love Me Tonight)", "Set 'Em Up Joe" e "I'm Still Crazy".

Do we want to define "I know you know me" a masterpiece? Yes, without a shadow of a doubt for at least two reasons. The first and most evident are the artists who interpret it: Caroline Spence and Matt Berninger, second for the deep and poetic text.
My favorite group when I was just a teenager were the Fugees, thanks to them a certain curiosity about english language was born in me. I wanted to know and understand the lyrics of their songs, it wasn't enough for me to be carried away exclusively by their beautiful music.
