Cole Porter (1891-1964) was one of America's greatest composers of musical comedies and one of the most prolific contributors to the Great American Songbook. Born in Peru, Indiana, Porter studied music at Yale University before dedicating himself to musical composition. Porter died at the age of 73 from heart failure. He is buried in his hometown of Peru, Indiana.
