Atomic heels

uncover your eyes
they're bloodied in love
whose staring back at yours, honey what have you missed?
you say let them go on
fighting i guess
as long as there's someplace left to visit
you're thinking of all the jobs that you could retire from

you keep telling me everything's gotta be real
you keep telling me everything's oh so real
why don't you lift em up and see, what's beneath your atomic heels?

they could lie down in the fire for hours, there was a safehouse close now there's nobody there
oh why we go on fighting like this, we could say maybe it's time we try something
you're sure there's someone out there who knows where you're coming from

you keep thinking that everything's gotta be real
you're always telling me everything's all so real
just lift up your heels

you keep telling me everything's gotta be real
you're always telling me everything's all so real
and now we're counting down the timecrash, you know how it feelswhy don't you lift em up and see what's beneath your atomic heels?

Formed in New York City in 2000, the trio consists of Brandon Swanson (vocals, guitar), Benjamin Curtis (guitar, keyboards) and Phil Karnats (bass). Their sound is characterized by psychedelic atmospheres, distorted guitar riffs and introspective lyrics. Their debut album, *Now Here This*, released in 2004, was a critical and commercial success, with singles like "Alone Together" and "The Way Home". The second album, *Ten Silver Drops*, from 2006, further solidified their position in the international indie rock scene. In 2010, the band disbanded following the death of Benjamin Curtis from leukemia. The Secret Machines are remembered as one of the most innovative and influential indie rock bands of the 2000s.
