Hon var från Fidji Island, jag föll i hennes garn,
och tvillingar hon fick, det var två nästan svarta barn.
Så kom den tredje pojken, men den, månntro, var vit
jag for till San Fransisco och tog pojken med mej dit.
Där har jag nu min business, jag har ett slakteri,
butiken ville jag att pojken skullet stå uti.
Men han sov alla dagar och söp varenda natt.
Hans hud var vit, hans ögon blå, men själen, den var svart.
Nu sitter han i Sing-Sing, utmärglad som ett lik,
och själv går jag och sörjer i min blodiga butik,
men mina svarta pojkar från Fidji, kära bror,
de plöjer Söderhavet blå och hedrar far och mor.
Jag tänker på den tiden, jag längtar ner till dem,
de är ju nästan svarta men de har ett lyckligt hem.
En skiftning i kulören, det gör väl ingenting
nej, hellre snälla svarta barn än vita i Sing-Sing!
