1Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me,
2Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
3Sounds of the rude world heard in the day,
4Lull'd by the moonlight have all pass'd a way!
5Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
6List while I woo thee with soft melody;
7Gone are the cares of life's busy throng, --

Don Gibson (1923-2003) was an influential American country singer and musician, known for his warm and melodious voice. Born in Shelby, North Carolina, Gibson began his musical career in the 1940s, performing in country and bluegrass music venues. In 1956 he achieved his first national success with "Oh Lonesome Me", a song that became one of the most beloved country songs of all time. Gibson recorded numerous hits throughout the 1950s and 1960s, including "I Can't Stop Loving You", "Sea of Heartbreak" and "The Heartache Song". His music is characterized by melancholic melodies and lyrics that explore themes of lost love, nostalgia and heartache. Gibson collaborated with many prominent country artists, including Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1987.
