Daniel Balavoine (Paris, 1952 – Algiers, 1986) was a highly successful French singer-songwriter of the 1970s and 1980s. He began his career as a folk musician but quickly established himself in the French pop music scene with memorable songs like "Le Dernier Combat", "Elle me dit" and "Je l'aime à mourir". His music was characterized by catchy melodies, poetic lyrics and a strong sense of romanticism. Balavoine was also an actor, appearing in several French films and TV series.
