The Waterboys are a Scottish rock band formed in 1983 by singer-songwriter and musician Mike Scott. The band's name comes from a line in Lou Reed's song "The Kids" on the album "Berlin". The Waterboys' sound has gone through several phases, influenced by collaborations with different artists over the years. Initially, they were known for their energetic and melodic rock, then they explored Irish folk sounds with the successful album "Fisherman's Blues" (1988), considered a masterpiece of the genre. Subsequently, the band embraced a more intimate and introspective sound, characterized by folk rock influences. After a break in 1993, The Waterboys reunited in 2000 and continue to record and perform successfully. Among the band's most representative songs are "The Whole of the Moon", "Fisherman's Blues", "How Long Will I Love You" and "A Girl Called Johnny".
